Exams
The Department of French and Francophone Studies offers exams to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Incoming students should plan to take the Online Placement Exam to help them determine their course level.
Qualifying students who wish to place out of the University’s language requirement are invited to participate in the Confirmation Oral Interview, offered each August during New Student Orientation (NSO). Learn more about placing out of the language requirement.
Qualifying undergraduate and graduate students in the Walsh School of Foreign Service may register for the Proficiency Exam, which is offered each November and April.
Graduate Student Exams include the MSFS Proficiency Exam and the Reading Proficiency Exam in French for students pursuing doctoral studies.
